Focus and Scope

Principles of Publication

1.
Innovation

IJCLP is a journal of user, reader and contributor interaction. It thus not only seeks to publish peer-reviewed articles of high quality, but also strives to create opportunities for interaction and dialogue between scholars and practitioners and across disciplines that are relevant to communications policy. IJCLP welcomes submissions from different disciplinary or cross-disciplinary perspectives.

2.
Copyright

IJCLP is a journal of inclusive discourse: copyright constraints are limited to the good academic practice of non-plagiarism and accreditation. Articles appearing in IJCLP can be anticipated to later appear in paper format, where copyright will rest. In IJCLP, copyright rests with the author.

3.
Reviewing

IJCLP encourages innovatory writing, rather than standardised strictures. It is however rigorous in its application of reviewing: recycled and 'reheated' conceptualising will not be published. It is intended to create an environment of concentrated innovation which time constraints render impossible in the paper environment.

4.
Style

IJCLP will not permit non-referenced contributions, or tacitly condone non-attribution. The editors expressly encourage hyperlinking to current policy sources. Citations in law pieces should conform to the latest edition of 'The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation'. For non-legal pieces, the IJCLP will adhere to the APA style.

5.
Immediacy

The editors will endeavour to deliver a manuscript via review, editing and copyediting in 4-6 weeks. This presumes that the article is delivered initially in publishable form. Deadlines may vary for special issues.

6. Interactive Features

IJCLP will contain:

- Articles
- Work-in-Progress
- Case Notes
- Legislative and Policy Analysis
- Conference Reviews
- Conference Abstracts
- Diary and Links to current legal and policy developments
- Commentaries on work-in-progress (where approved by the author)
- Reviews of printed publications and electronic publications

Peer Review Process

We strictly adhere to the practice of double-blind peer review for all submissions to the journal.

Publication Frequency

Journal items will be published collectively, as part of an issue, under the supervision of one or more editors, who will be members of the journal's editorial board, or, in some cases, invited guest editors. Some issues will have a special thematic focus and will be announced through a call for papers, that will be published on the IJCLP website and disseminated accordingly by the editor(s) in charge of the issue.

Open Access Policy

The IJCLP is an open-access journal. This means that all content published on the journal is available to everyone, with no fee to authors or to readers.

About the IJCLP

The IJCLP is an electronic journal devoted to the changing law, policy and technology of media regulation around the world. As a result of technological convergence, we understand "communication" to include the content and carriage of traditional broadcasting and cable as well as internet and telecommunications and publish intellectually rigorous and challenging articles, working papers and editorials in these areas of inquiry.
